Chapter 8

Lisa is naturally beautiful and it didn’t take much maintenance for her transformation. She took a shower and brushed her hair back into a ponytail. Lisa slipped into her Rock 'N Republic jeans and white blouse. She applied some mascara along with lipstick and gathered her purse to head out the door. Angel came from the bedroom and sat on the couch whimpering like a sad puppy dog. "Girl you ought'a quit says Lisa, "If you're looking for sympathy you're in the wrong place." She grabs her keys and left to go meet James at Starbucks.

Lisa arrived and didn’t see any Afro-American guys inside. She decided not to call and just wait and take this moment to clear her mind of Angel’s drug stricken behavior. Lisa sat on a stool directly in the window and began reading a newspaper. Minutes later, a brand new Maybach Mercedes Benz tailed by a Range Rover pulled in front and held up Chicago’s heavy five o’clock traffic. These two luxury vehicles were so fly you swore it was a car show. They sat and hovered enabling any movement when all you heard was a rash of what sounded like every car in Chicago honking horns for them to move. It got loud and definitely caught Lisa’s attention. She looked up and wondered why these two vehicles were causing this major jam until a black gentleman slowly stepped out the passenger’s seat of the Benz. It seemed like someone was filming a movie. The gentleman and Lisa engaged eye contact through the window and she assumed it was James (Bugsy).

Anyone could tell this gentleman was in charge because no matter how hard traffic blew, the Maybach or Range Rover didn't budge until he hand gestured them to do so. James entered the Starbucks and approached a smiling Lisa. She stood and exchanged a friendly hug and handshake as they introduced themselves to one another. The two of them went to the counter and ordered lattes. As they walked to find a table on the other side of the room, Lisa says, "Wow James, you really made a grand entrance here today." "Well, I told you I was gonna' show up bells on," James smiled.

Remember, James was kicked out of his mother’s home at an early age. So he wasn’t raised around the warmth and love of a woman and never taught properly how to treat a lady when entertaining. As Lisa stood waiting for James to pull the chair out and seat her he walked around the table and sat himself, leaving Lisa standing there. James looked up at her and asked, "Is something wrong with your chair?" Lisa was pure class. Top of the food chain and being an etiquette instructor she wasn’t going to allow James to practice bad manners. "Yes James, something is wrong. Only not with my chair. I must first ask if you can handle a little constructive criticism."

"Yes, feel free. I won’t take it personal," he replied.

"That’s good because I’ll never tell you anything to hurt, only to help you.
